The endometrium is the inside lining of the Uterus and sheds during the period when pregnancy doesn’t occur.

Symptoms

The earliest sign for older women is bleeding after menopause. Spotting or brownish discharge after menopause maybe be a sign of Uterine cancer.

For younger women, heavy vaginal or irregular bleeding could be a sign of Uterine cancer.

Diagnosis

A pelvic exam is done to determine a healthy Uterus. If the results are abnormal, the doctor performs a biopsy. A small sample of the uterus lining is removed to look for cancer cells.

If uterine cancer is diagnosed the next step is to seek care from a gynecological oncologist. These doctors have specialized training in the treatment of gynecological cancer.
